Policy on artificial intelligence utilization

The journal acknowledges the escalating significance of artificial intelligence (AI) across all industries, including the scientific publishing sector. The subsequent points succinctly outline the journal's present policy regarding the utilization of AI:

  1. Language editing and proofreading assisted by artificial intelligence: The utilization of AI support for the purpose of enhancing the legibility of the articles through language editing and proofreading is permissible.
  2. The utilization of AI in writing: AI should not be used to highlight results, discuss findings, or derive conclusions, unless a compelling and disclosed rationale (i.e. the manuscript is partially or fully AI-oriented) supports such an application. In such case, AI generated sections should be highlighted.
  3. The use of AI tools for image generation and processing: AI tools should not be used to generate or process images unless there is a compelling disclosed rationale (i.e. the manuscript is partially or fully AI-oriented) for such applications. In such case AI-generated images should be highlighted and in case of AI image modification, the original (non-modified) images should be provided separately.
  4. The utilization of AI tools for dataset generation or the integration of AI-generated data into real-life datasets should be avoided, unless a compelling justification (i.e. the manuscript is partially or fully AI-oriented) for such an approach is disclosed. In such case, the generated and incorporated data should be provided and highlighted.

In light of the aforementioned considerations, (Artificial intelligence) name should not appear as an author on the manuscript. Furthermore, the authors should oversee and audit any application of AI.
